Composing Spring in This Room Where Cherry Blossoms Bloom is a manga that was released from 2021 till 2022. It is relatively short, just 2 volumes, which makes it a total of 15 chapters.
The story is about a woman named Haruki who had lost her girlfriend, Sakura, 5 years ago. When she makes a wish for Sakura to return to her, she happens to find Sakura’s 10 year diary. With only 9 years filled in, she goes to fill in the last and 10th year.

Although this story is sad, it is also encouraging, hopeful and even funny at times. It really takes you along on Haruki’s journey to process her grief and move on her way to recovery. This does not only take place in her own mind, or simply by following the journal and past, it also shows the different experiences and views from the people around them. It makes the story feel very whole.
The art style is pretty typical for Japanese comics. No coloured pages, yet it still conveys everything very well. The unique part of this specific manga is how at times it looks shiny, especially the eyes. It adds something special to the overall vibe. The focus is mostly on the characters, less so on the backgrounds.
This manga is currently only officially available in Japanese and German language.
