Baiheverse is a publisher founded by a native Chinese woman who deeply loves domestic yuri (baihe) works. By chance in 2021, she discovered overseas communities that are dedicated to reading baihe. After spending three or four years there, she decided to start a company that would legally translate and deliver baihe works to international audiences.
This decision stems from several observations. On one hand, she saw many works that readers desperately wanted to read, but had no translations available. Major publishers are often reluctant to give baihe titles a chance, and fan translators who work out of pure passion rarely receive the recognition or compensation that they deserve.
On the other hand, in China itself, there are quite a few baihe works and creators, yet due to censorship restrictions, creators can never enjoy true creative freedom. Compared to other genres, baihe has far fewer opportunities for adaptation into film, TV dramas, or anime (almost none in animation or live-action), and the economic feedback from the market remains extremely limited.
She sensed strong demand on both sides: overseas readers hungry for more baihe, and domestic creators needing broader exposure and better opportunities. As a Chinese person, she also has a simple but heartfelt wish to let more people around the world discover and appreciate the native yuri works and the talented creators behind them.
Fortunately, she happens to have the skills and connections needed to bridge these two worlds. Although her resources are currently limited, she still want to give it her all and try. She truly believes this is a cause she is willing to pursue for the rest of her life.
