Soulmate Adventure is a Chinese animated series. It started as a music video, then with crowd funding the first season was created. Now it has two seasons and specials on BiliBili, more seasons are already on the way. It is also the very first yuri animated series from China.
As the mysteries surrounding the white-haired girl Bai Yuxiu’s origins slowly unravel, strange events from the martial world start to happen more and more. At the center of these incidents lies the forbidden artifact known as the Red Sun Blood Essence, drawing not only Bai Yuxiu but also Feng Linger, Nan Sheng, and Cui Yu into its web. What unfolds seems more than mere coincidence… Sinister occurrences and mysterious figures emerge one after another. To uncover the whole truth, it appears they must find Bai Muzhen, and soon.
The bond between Yuxiu and Linger is clear to see, but it is absolutely not the only good thing about this series. The art, details to the backstories and music are also really well made. The visual quality increased quite a bit in the second season, the focus on their relationship went away here for a little bit but they made up for it in the specials. The original creator DDF also promised the focus would be back on them in future seasons. The story is a mix of comedic adventure and martial arts action.
