About Brandy Mars
Brandy Mars is an artist from Canada. When she came out in 2014, her brother encouraged her to speak openly about her love life and to build a following. Mars began with a blog, then expanded to an Etsy shop, and now she has her own website. She also organizes community events, such as the Vancouver Gay Map.
About the art
Most of her artwork consists of oil paintings. Since much of sapphic art is sexualized and created through the male gaze, she wanted to focus on capturing intimacy from the female perspective. Her paintings are slightly abstract, and the color palette evokes a romantic and intimate atmosphere.
Mars believes in the importance of listening to the sapphic community and strives to ensure everyone feels seen and included. This commitment is evident in her artwork, which features a diverse range of body types, ages, and ethnicities.
